Our Story

The MKOB Group at Morgan Stanley has advised individuals and families in the complex business of maintaining and enhancing their wealth for 30 years. We offer a combination of over 100 years of experience from our senior advisers, and youth and vigour from our younger members to provide continuity to the next generation of clients. With our founding partners still working actively in the business, many of our relationships are now in their second and third generations.

Having a globally-focused investment thesis has at times provided its share of challenges over the course of three decades. In fact, the October 1987 stock market crash (Black Monday) occurred in the very first month of our team’s existence. Despite this early setback, and other negative world events such as the dotcom bust, September 11, and the Global Financial Crisis, we have stayed true to our investment principles, and consistently acted as a safe pair of hands our clients could rely upon. Our clients take great comfort in the team’s proud history of not only successfully navigating the highs and lows of global financial markets for the past 30 years, but for also understanding the importance of providing education and emotional support along the journey.

Via our dedicated six member team, our clients receive the pro-activity and personalised high-touch of a boutique investment firm, with the added comfort of the Morgan Stanley brand and infrastructure.

Working With You

Your journey with us starts with two essential questions - what do you wish to achieve, and why do you want to achieve it?

At our core, we practice a goal-orientated, long-term approach to wealth management, which takes into account your financial and non-financial goals, family and personal situation, time horizon, tolerance to risk, and how actively you wish to be involved. We can also integrate your non-financial assets, such as real estate, private businesses, earnings, art, and other personal assets into our analysis to give holistic advice on minimising potential risks to your total wealth.

Investment philosophy

We abide by four key investment principles which we deem vital for increasing and maintaining wealth:
Make the most of compound interest
Compound interest is the cornerstone of wealth enhancement. We target investments with high sustainable yield.
Diversify effectively
“Fortunes are made in one investment and preserved in many”. We diversify portfolios into different asset classes, securities, and currencies, preferably with low correlation to each other.
Increase your time horizon
Volatility decreases substantially when investments are measured over a long time frame. We are patient investors and avoid emotive short term decisions.
Minimise costs
We manage assets 'in house' as this is the most transparent and cost-efficient way to implement our strategy. Where possible, we invest directly as opposed to using external fund managers.

About Me

It takes insight to unlock opportunity. My clients come to me for financial advice, integrated solutions and intelligence from across the world’s major markets. I apply the insight and resources of one of the world’s most respected investment organisations to help my clients build, manage and preserve their wealth.

Before I develop any specific recommendations, I take the time to understand who you are and what you want to accomplish, both personally and financially. I take a disciplined approach to analysing your situation and identifying appropriate investment opportunities designed to help you achieve your financial goals.

About Me

Chris feels fortunate to have found a career in an industry that still keeps him energised and inquisitive after 33 years. He and his team has in excess of a billion dollars under advice and they have built many client relationships that have lasted for a quarter of a century or more. The team works with professional investors, families and foundations as their trusted advisers in navigating this complex world of global wealth management.

About Me

Forging a career at a time when robo-advice is infiltrating more areas of the financial services industry, my main priority is forming valuable, long-term relationships with my clients.

The key to wealth management is discovering and understanding why someone wants to grow or protect their wealth. I truly enjoy delving into and hearing the unique personal stories that shape a client's motivations. Being able to then help plan for, and achieve, life-long goals is what makes my role so rewarding.

I'm also passionate about socially and environmentally responsible investing and I don't subscribe to the theory that you must forgo financial returns in order to have a positive impact on society.
